Key Policies.

Much of this work has already started, but there is so much more to do. It is our commitment to continue the journey, to bring Lismore back to being the best regional centre it can possibly be.

1. Continue the recovery and rebuild of :

  • Local economy by welcoming new businesses and industries to our LGA
  • Housing by continuing the work with the NSWRA to open up and develop new land.
  • Help private landowners open up future housing opportunities by actively supporting and assisting when needed.

2. Continue advocating for flood mitigation and water security.

3. Continue the financial reforms that have started this term to return LCC into a sustainable and viable organisation.

4. Continue the advocacy of not only Lismore, but the region that has so far brought over one billion dollars in grant money so far, with much more to come to repair and improve our critical infrastructure, our road network, our drains and our facilities, so that our ratepayers can access the best available services.

5. Continue to build a strong, best practice organisation through placing the best people in the right jobs to ensure LCC is an employer of choice.

6. Remove outdated and unnecessary policies that don’t achieve anything, and replace them with best practice IP and R framework documents that are up to date, relevant and fit for purpose for Lismore post 2022 flood.

7. Inspire our villages to grow and thrive, and encourage all of our residents to participate in the future prosperity of the LGA.

8. Ensure that LCC leads the way in local jobs, local investment, and local spending, to create a circular system that money generated in Lismore, stays in Lismore.

9. Continue to look for inefficiencies that lead to organisational improvements, which will ease the burden on ratepayers. These reviews will transform our assets from costing the organisation money, to at least getting to a break even point, and potentially making a return.
