Darren Butcher

Small business owner and operator (Nimbin Bakery)

Born and raised in Nimbin on the family dairy farm, Darren spent most of his childhood helping his parents, Lyle and Fay Butcher. He attended Richmond River High School, and after finishing school spent a number of years working in the ANZ Bank across the Northern Rivers and New England.

After a short stint in small business, Darren commenced an 18-year career in sales and management with local and international companies, including Norco and Pauls/Parmalat.

For the past 10 years, he and his wife Tricia have owned and operated the Nimbin Bakery, a business formerly owned by Tricia’s parents, Bill and Nancy Nugent, in the 1970s and ’80s.

The bakery has provided many employment and apprenticeship training opportunities for locals over the years, which is a very rewarding part of his job.

Through their business, Darren is a proud supporter of local sporting teams, schools, and community events, including the Westpac Helicopter and Our Kids.

Darren & Tricia have two children who both live and work in the Lismore area.
